Triscuit Home Farming Movement

Eating healthy and fresh can really make all the difference, making it all the more important for families to find ways to get back to simple, good-for-you food. Whether you want to keep fresh herbs on your windowsill or tomatoes in your backyard, Triscuit wants to help provide families everywhere with the opportunity and knowledge to grow their own food. As someone who loves to garden, having my own backyard sanctuary not only allows me to incorporate more simple, authentic ingredients into my family's diet but also teach my children the benefits of home growing.

In an attempt to help Americans celebrate the values of simple goodness found on farms and encourage the growing of fresh herbs and vegetables at home no matter where you live, Triscuit has launched the Home Farming Movement in collaboration with the non-profit organization Urban Framing. Together, Triscuit and Urban Farming plan to create 50 community-based home farms across the country in 2010 in order to connect communities through growing food together.

To help get this fantastic program off the ground, Triscuit is putting plantable herbs seed cards in four million boxes of Triscuit crackers to be grown on home farms in backyards and balconies. With Earth Day right around the corner, this spring proves ideal for incorporating home growing values into your family's life. Head to the Triscuit Home Farming Movement Web site, www.triscuit.com/homefarming, for more information on how you can start your own home farm or get involved in the Movement.

When I heard about Triscuit's Home Farming Movement, I thought it was an awesome idea. There are so many benefits from growing your own veggies, fruits, and herbs and its much easier than you would think. Triscuit has decided to include plantable seed cards in 4 million boxes of crackers to help you get started. I know Triscuit will inspire many to use their green thumb to grow healthy veggies and herbs.  It is Triscuit's goal to help Americans everywhere create their own home garden!
My husband and I have grown our own herbs in previous years and Triscuit is helping us get started on our herb garden for this year. When I was little my Dad and I had a huge veggie, fruit, and herb garden in our backyard and grew different crops during the fall and spring. I loved growing my own veggies and they were delicious too! Its a memory I will always cherish.
My daughter and I planted the seed card that was included in our box of Triscuit crackers. My husband has the green thumb around here so we always have plenty of extra pots on hand. This is the second time my daughter has planted something and she has a lot of fun putting in the dirt, digging the hole, putting in the seeds, covering it and watering it. Now we have the plant in the sunshine and are waiting for it to sprout! Our plant is Basil.
I think its awesome that a company such as Triscuit has partnered up with the non profit organization Urban Farming. When big companies get involved in the community and show they care, it makes a positive impact.

*I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Triscuit and received the product necessary to facilitate my candid review. In addition, I received a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
