Marcal Small Steps Review

"In case you have not heard the “buzz” about the NEW Small Steps 100% recycled paper products from Marcal I would like to share them with you.  I think you will find the fact that Marcal is green, does not cost more than everyday non-recycled brands and has been recycling for over 50 years a reason to share with your friends.

"Consequences of Using Virgin Fiber Versus Recycled Paper:

Virgin tree pulp or virgin fiber is the paper industry’s term for the most common source for towel, napkins, bath, and facial tissues found on store shelves. Unfortunately this virgin fiber is only obtained by cutting down and killing trees. By continuing to cut down trees and by causing the resulting deforestation- we potentially contribute to the release of greenhouse gases, which could worsen the effects of global warming, dramatically and adversely impacting us all. We only have one earth.

Some staggering statistics:
• Each person in the U.S. uses approximately 800 lbs of paper per year. – Resource Conservation Alliance
• For every 17 trees saved, you are helping the earth absorb 250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually. – AmeriFlow Recycling Inc.
• Each of us uses approximately one 100-foot-tall Douglas fir tree in paper and wood products per year. – American Forest and Paper Association
• A single tree produces approximately 260 pounds of oxygen per year. That means two mature trees can supply enough oxygen annually to support a family of four. – U.S. Department of Agriculture and Bombay Natural History Society
• Half of the world’s forests have already been cleared or burned, and 80% of what is left has been seriously degraded. – Environmental Paper Network
• One tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces while driving 26,000 miles. – U.S. Department of Agriculture and Bombay Natural History Society
• The average U.S. office worker produces two pounds of paper waste per day. – Envirowise
• To manufacture one pound of paper requires three and a half pounds of wood and produces three pounds of carbon dioxide. – Nature Canada
• Discarded paper is one of the largest contributors to methane emissions from landfills. (Methane is a greenhouse gas that is 20 times more potent in its effects than CO2). – Ernest Mayer, “What Evolution is 2001”
• An EPA study concluded that “Federal subsidies of virgin paper product undoubtedly cost the taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars. – Federal Disincentives: A Study of Federal Tax Subsidies and Other
Programs Affecting Virgin Industries and Recycling (Washington, D.C.: EPA, August 1994), p.5.

MARCAL CONSUMER PLEDGE

I am only one person.
But what I do impacts the whole world.
I have decided that the health of the earth is important to me.
I have decided to honor this priority in small ways.
If I can share a ride or take public transportation to help save the air, I will.
If I can make everyday choices that help save energy, I will.
If I can choose recycled paper that help save the forests and wildlife habitats, I will.

MARCAL CORPORATE OVERVIEW

Since 1950, the Marcal brand has been synonymous with recycled paper products - Paper made from paper, not from trees™. Marcal’s Small Steps™ line, debuting in 2009, focuses squarely on the brand’s green heritage and helps consumers make a small, easy step to a greener Earth. The Small Steps™ line of 100% recycled bath tissue, paper towels, napkins and facial tissue are manufactured without chlorine bleach, are hypoallergenic and are virtually lint free. For over 50 years Marcal has been saving trees and reducing landfills by making its paper from recycled paper. Throughout the company’s history it has collected paper curbside from residential neighborhoods, from small blue baskets in office buildings, unwanted junk mail and printer’s waste--all in an effort to do something good. Further, Marcal has priced its new Small Steps ™ line competitively because Marcal believes that consumers should not have to pay a lot more just to be green. “Our research shows that shoppers are looking for ways to help the environment, but they may not know how. They want to do something good, without having to compromise. Small Steps™ products achieve that, without compromising on performance, without compromising on convenience, and without paying a premium for the simple “privilege” of being green,” said Tim Spring, CEO Marcal Paper Products, LLC. Marcal was established in 1932. Its products are distributed in grocers, club stores, mass merchants and drugstores, other retailers for home consumption and to distributors for away-from-home use in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, offices and factories.

If each American household were to buy just one package of Small Steps™ facial tissues, together we would save one million trees. Please join our campaign! Looking for a small, easy way to go green? I was psyched when I received my Marcal Small Steps package a few days ago. A cool bunch of products to review, and good for the earth too! We have almost used all the paper towels, we have been using the dinner napkins with our dinner, my husband loves the facial tissues and we are currently utilizing the toilet paper in the master bath. The great thing about these products is that they perform as good if not better than non recycled products. And it eases your mind when using disposable products to know that they are made from recycled materials. I have even bought this line of products in the past, before I even reviewed them!
This was a good time for me to review these items as well, because I was needing to make a trip to the store for paper products but this has held me over for a few days. Thanks so much Marcal!
The Bottom Line: These products definitely perform as well or better than non recycled products, they are good for the earth and affordable! They get the seal of approval!

Energizer Rechargeable Batteries & Compact Charger Review & GIVEAWAY!

"Rechargeable batteries are a great solution for high-tech devices like digital cameras, GPS units, wireless gaming remotes, and for all of those other devices that just seem to suck the juice out of batteries.  However, at the shelf it may be confusing which battery to buy.  Do I but the 2450 mAh or the 2600 mAh battery?  What does mAh mean?  Well, Energizer has just made your decision much easier with their introduction of the new and improved Energizer Rechargeable AA battery.

As a result of advances in rechargeable battery technology, Energizer has increased the capabilities of its widely-used AA rechargeable battery.  Consumers will see the benefits in increased charge cycles and longer charge retention while holding capacity at a high rate – all without an increase in price.
Okay, so what does that really mean?  It means that the new rechargeable batteries can be charged up to 500 times and you will get up to 150 more charging cycles than previous Energizer® 2450mAh Rechargeable batteries.  The new battery will continue to last up to four times longer than Energizer® Max® batteries in digital cameras, but now holds more charge at 6 months than previous Energizer Rechargeable AA.
Sounds great, right?"

I was extremely excited to receive my Energizer Batteries & Charger package! I love reviewing products that are essentials! In fact I already have a battery charger, but we have used it so much its on its last leg. So this was a welcome review. My daughters toys use an unbelievable amount of batteries of all sizes, but especially AA & AAA size.  I was actually thinking of getting her batteries as a Christmas present since they would definitely get used up! This product will certainly get used over and over in our household.

The Bottom Line: Of course I recommend Energizer Rechargeable Batteries & the Compact Charger! This is a product you shouldn't live without, and it helps to preserve our environment because your not constantly throwing away depleted batteries. And who doesn't like that?!

Taft Brown: How Now Brown Cow? Review & GIVEAWAY!

I wanted to let my readers know about "Taft Brown – a Franklin, TN, children’s music artist.
His just released CD" is "How Now Brown Cow (released by Green Banana Music, September 2009).
Taft’s much awaited and high-energy CD is based on what children experience on a daily basis. From “Socks with Crocs” to “Bye-Bye Tricycle” each song is a parody of an adult song with kid friendly lyrics. Example: Taft’s “Loose Tooth” is to the tune of “Footloose."
As a dad of four, Taft’s objective is to make music that BOTH kids and parents will enjoy.
Website:  www.taftbrown.com"

I was so excited to receive my Taft Brown package in the mail the other day! I received a sample CD, letter and Bio of Taft Brown.

This is a really good kids CD. Its one of those kids CD's that you won't be embarrased to sing along with! LOL! The songs are for adults as much as they are for kids. They are all really cool and a few are set to popular music from today! We loved Counting Bananas, which sounds alot like the Banana Splits theme song, Socks with Crocs, Sleeping Til' Morning Time, and Loose Tooth which sounds like Footloose!

I also love the CD cover, on the inside is a maze for the kiddos to unscramble! Taft also looks like a fun dad.  He has a good voice and the songs are to be enjoyed by all!

The Bottom Line: This is a not to be missed, guaranteed to be enjoyed by the whole family CD!

And whats that? Oh yes, I have have 1 extra CD to give away to 1 reader!

Below, please find further information about Le Baby. To visit the Web site, you can go to: www.lebabyinc.com.

Meet Tami Dimmerman
Tami searched for a product that would tame and style her daughter Chloe’s fly-away hair without aggravating her eczema or irritating her sensitive skin. She hoped to find a safe, gentle and effective gel without harsh chemicals or potentially harmful ingredients. Unwilling to settle for what was in the marketplace, Tami spent months experimenting with different all-natural formulas until, through animal-free testing, she found the perfect combination and solution."

My take

I was very curious to see what product I had received today for review. It was Le Baby Hair Gel! Just in time for Halloween! I can use this to help style my daughters hair for her Tinkerbell costume I got her at the last minute today. $35 for a toddlers costume. Can you believe it?!

At any rate, Le Baby Hair Gel was a little bit runnier than some of the other baby hair gels I have tried, but I loved the natural, not too overpowering smell. Slightly sweet. I also love that it is harsh chemical and fragrance free! And even better, babies, kids or anyone with sensitive skin (even adults!) can use it. You could probably use it if you just love green (like for the earth, LOL) hair products!

The Bottom Line: Le Baby Hair Gel gets the stamp of approval for being chemical, and fragrance free!

* I received 1 tube of Le Baby Hair Gel to facilitate my honest review. No other compensation was or will be given.

NEWS: FastPencil Releases 'Percy' Children's Book

I wanted to let my readers know that FastPencil just announced the release of "Percy, The Perfectly Imperfect Chicken," a children's book by author, Rick Rieser, written exclusively at FastPencil (http://www.fastpencil.com).

Rieser, a first-time author with no experience in book publishing, came to FastPencil in search of a platform to write, share, collaborate, publish and promote his book. FastPencil gave him access to their end-to-end solution that enabled him to write the book, share it with others and publish a full-color paperback finished product.

"Percy, the Perfectly Imperfect Chicken" represents the culmination of first-time author, Rick Rieser's, 25-year career as a nationally recognized children's advocate. He has developed resources for children of all ages that emphasize and focus on the inner strength and potential that exists in every child.

FastPencil Showcases Newly Released Children's Book, "Percy, The Perfectly Imperfect Chicken"

Author Rick Rieser Makes His Dream a Reality Using FastPencil's Marketplace, Writing Tools and Social Self-Publishing Service

FastPencil today announced the release of "Percy, The Perfectly Imperfect Chicken," a children's book by author, Rick Rieser, written exclusively at FastPencil (http://www.fastpencil.com) using the end-to-end writing tools and social self-publishing service. "Percy, The Perfectly Imperfect Chicken" is a meaningful story that teaches children how to experience the power of celebrating differences and imperfections.

Rieser came to FastPencil in search of a platform to write, share, collaborate, publish and promote his book. FastPencil gave him access to their end-to-end solution that enabled him to write the book, share it with others and publish a full-color paperback finished product.

"This is my first published book and after writing the story I knew I needed help finding the perfect illustrator to create compelling images," said Rieser. "FastPencil gave me the ability to connect to the FastPencil Marketplace to find editors and an illustrator, as well as handling all of the publishing logistics. FastPencil connected me with the ecosystem necessary to make 'Percy' come to life."

"Percy, The Perfectly Imperfect Chicken" is a story based on a young chicken named Percy who is different from the other chickens in his coup. The moral of the story is to teach children to accept themselves for who they are. The book is aimed at children between the ages of three and 10 and will be available for purchase at over 2,000 online retailers this month.

"It has been a pleasure working with Rick on 'Percy' as it is our passion to make the book-writing process easy and accessible for everyone," said Steve Wilson, FastPencil Co-Founder and CEO. "We were glad he was able to find the tools and team that he needed in the FastPencil Marketplace, a place for authors, illustrators, graphic designers, editors and anyone else involved in the book-writing process to market themselves and offer their services to other FastPencil community members."

"Percy, the Perfectly Imperfect Chicken" represents the culmination of Rick Rieser's 25-year career as a nationally recognized children's advocate. He has developed resources for children of all ages that emphasize and focus on the inner strength and potential that exists in every child.

Rieser will be taking "Percy" on a nationwide book tour this fall visiting cities such as Philadelphia and Boston. Lunchbox Love: Positive Messages for Kids

Lunchbox Love: Positive Messages for Kids

I wanted to make sure my readers knew about Lunchbox Love from Say Please, Inc.  This collection of 12 credit-card sized cards comes in a cute compact case and features positive phrases on the front like "I love spending time with you" or "Be kind" and fun trivia facts on the back like "Did you know...a dragonfly has a life span of 24 hours?" or "Did you Know...just like finger prints each person has a unique tongue print?"  The cards can be placed in a lunchbox, binder, or backpack or on a pillow at night.

Here is what some moms have said about Lunchbox Love:

I thought these would be cute to add to my daughters lunch. Little did I know how much she would like them.  Her classmates can't wait to hear her read the new card everyday.  She collects them and keeps them in her lunchbox to share with everyone.  She asked me the other day how many I had left and I knew then I had better order more before I ran out.  Thanks!

Thanks so much, my kids love these.  I have a 14 year old girl and an 11 year old boy.  They really look forward to getting the fun facts each day.  Even though I love the front of the card and I know they read it, they love the fun facts!

Say Please Inc. was founded in 2007 by two moms who got tired of seeing negative verbiage and sentiments on products being sold to children and adults. They decided to create a company that put more positive words into the world.

Currently Say Please is offering free shipping on orders of Volumes one through four of Lunchbox Love.

You can see the entire collection at http://www.sayplease.com/

* No compensation was or will be provided to me for featuring this product.

Congrats!
